New Delhi: In a unanimous decision, Nitish Kumar secured re-election as the President of Bihar’s ruling Janata Dal (United) during the party’s national executive meeting in Delhi on Friday afternoon. The re-appointment followed the voluntary resignation of aide Lalan Singh, putting an end to weeks of intense speculation.

Addressing reporters immediately after the meeting, Mr. Singh dismissed any suggestions of internal discord within the party, stating, “Anger? What anger? Why should I be angry? This is the first time I am hearing this word.”

Sources indicated that Lalan Singh’s departure was prompted by perceived closeness to Bihar’s alliance partner, Lalu Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal. There have been discussions suggesting that Tejashwi Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister and son of Lalu Yadav, is being groomed to assume a leadership role.
